We are entering a new season in our worship year and will spend the next weeks focusing on Hospitality.
The ancient practices of invitation and welcome have been part of Christian tradition since the first community of disciples formed around Jesus. The gospel stories tell of Jesus, botj as a needy guest and a generous host; his stories of banquests with unusual guests continue to challenge us out of our comfort zones. Our hymns sign of this practice. "In receiving and in giving. Spirit open my heart."
In these early months of forming a new commuty of faith, we focus on hospitality as a spiritual practice that offers us a path to deepen our connections with one another and with God. It offers us all some very specific ways to participate in growing this sense of community.
