Questions & Answers

Here are some common questions that new visitors to Peninsula United often ask:

Whoever you are, wherever you’ve come from, and wherever you’re going, whether you visit us in person or online, we welcome your presence in this community. We seek to know God’s love more deeply so we can share God's love more widely. We are an Affirming Ministry of the United Church of Canada. We publicly, intentionally, and explicitly affirm the participation of people of each and every sexual orientation, gender identity, age, health, race, ability, religious or ethnic background, or economic circumstance.

We meet on Sundays at 10 am at our Crescent site on 127th Street for a service lasting about 60-75 minutes. Most people arrive at 9:50 AM, and services are usually over by 11:15 AM. You are welcome to stay for coffee after the service and make connections.

The service is live-streamed on our YouTube Channel and available to watch afterwards as well.

There is no strict dress code at PUC. Just come as you are, whether it's cozy flannel or whatever feels right for you. Your outfit shouldn't hold you back from joining us for worship; we're all about welcoming you just the way you are. Whether you're dressed to the nines or keeping it laid-back, all styles are embraced at Peninsula United. We want you to be physically comfortable while you’re here.

You are welcome to sit wherever you will be most comfortable. Greeters and ushers are here from the moment you step inside to help and direct you. If you're unsure about anything, feel free to ask one of them for assistance.

Peninsula United is fully accessible. We have reserved accessible parking spots close to the entrance for people who use mobility devices near the main entrance at both locations. Our worship space is wheelchair, walker, and scooter-friendly. If you need a headset for better hearing, just let one of our greeters know, and they'll be happy to help. We also provide large-print service orders upon request.

We're all about music, thoughtful reflection, and a friendly atmosphere (check out our latest bulletin!). Whether you groove to classics or jam out to the latest tunes, our music has something for everyone, led by our talented choir, piano, and other instruments.

Feeling like raising your hands in joy? Awesome. Prefer quiet reflection? That's cool too. Whether you're seeking connection through prayer or a welcoming community, come as you are and experience the message of God's love and grace.

Throughout the year, we also offer seasonal services like Contemplative Prayer, Morning Prayer, and Wild Church. Keep an eye on our Calendar of Events for more details!

Yes! Prayer teaches us humility and grows our faith in God. We pray in our Sunday services for the congregation, the community, and the world. During the week, our prayer team prays for the ongoing concerns of the congregation.

Yes! ALL are welcome – including children. Communion takes place on the first Sunday of every month, and everyone is welcome to participate, regardless of membership status!

Peninsula United Church welcomes you! Each Sunday, the children’s play room is available for parents to supervise their children.

At Peninsula United, we conduct baptisms and welcome new members through transfer or reaffirmation of faith at specific intervals throughout the year. We choose these times to celebrate spiritual growth and embrace new members into the Christian community. Learn more about baptisms here.

After worship, everyone is invited to come to the lower hall downstairs to enjoy a cup of tea, coffee, water or juice, a few goodies and a conversation.

No. As part of our church family, we joyfully and willingly contribute at our weekly worship to support the church's efforts in our neighborhood and beyond. However, as a visitor, while you’re welcome to give, there's absolutely no expectation for you to give money. Just be our guest and enjoy the experience!

A great way to begin is by exploring our Ministries and Events sections on the website. There, you'll discover a variety of small groups and ministries to join. These groups offer chances to connect with others, deepen your spiritual path, engage in community life, and contribute to our broader community.
