Our official responsibilities for our Refugee Sponsorship family is quickly coming to an end on February 1st , the date which marks the 1st anniversary of the family’s arrival in Canada. So much has been accomplished, and we are so grateful for the interest, support and generosity of both the congregation and the wider community.
The family are now settled into their new home and community, and are fortunate to live so close to their extended family. The family have also integrated into their church community, where they can find mutual support.
The children have had to change schools due to their move, but they are engaging and outgoing children so have been able to establish new friendships at their new school. In the early fall, the mother was finally able to access ESL classes. Her English proficiency is growing quickly and in the New Year she is enrolled in a ESL class closer to home. The father has had a promotion at work and is strongly motivated to build the family’s new life in Canada.
